Community Volunteer Corps

Lurie Children’s Community Volunteer Corps is a fun, flexible way for volunteers to share important public health messages with Chicago families. Each summer, volunteers participate in approximately 10 festivals and events in neighborhoods across the city by leading interactive games and sharing health education materials.

In 2017, we estimate that more than 3,000 kids stopped by our tents and tables, and had fun learning about vital health and safety topics.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older. To participate, we ask that you follow these steps:

  • Complete an application, telephone interview, and background check
  • Participate in a kick-off meeting (if your schedule permits)
  • Complete brief online training
  • Commit to volunteer with us for at least one event this summer

To learn more about the program and meet fellow volunteers, join us for the following kick-off meetings at Lurie Children’s (225 E. Chicago Avenue):
  • May 24 at 5:30 p.m.
  • June 5 at 1:30 p.m.
